In December of 2004, the Soboba Band of Luiseno Indians purchased Soboba Springs Royal Vista Golf Club from the Honolulu based company, Waterhouse, Inc. It was always a dream of the tribal leaders to own the beautiful golf course that bordered their reservation.
Immediately, they began planning development of the golf course site to return the facility to the premier golf destination in Southern California and beyond.
They contracted the services of Cary Bickler, golf course architect and disciple of Desmond Muirhead, the original golf course designer in 1966.
What you see today is the new Soboba Springs Golf Course; completely renovated bunkers, including 25 newly placed bunkers, all filled with Augusta White bunker sand; laser leveled teeing areas with the addition of new tee boxes on each hole, lengthening the course nearly 250 yards from the original back tee to a stout 7053 yards for the “experienced” player, as well as shortening the course nearly 1000 yards from the original forward tee for the less “experienced” player; beautiful waterfalls, rock walls and streams have replaced outdated features and enhanced the look of the course; extensive tree work has increased the “long views” and brought the surrounding scenery to the golf course and hidden otherwise unsightly areas.
In April 2008 the new 32,000 square foot clubhouse opened its doors to rave reviews. Natural rock and beautiful alderwood trim successfully brought the outdoors inside. Beautiful water features literally connect the golf course experience to the new clubhouse. Home to our signature restaurant, The Maze Stone, the new facility is sure to stand out as the finest in Southern California and beyond.
The Soboba Band of Luiseno Indians and Soboba Springs Golf Course play host annually to the PGA TOUR Nationwide Tour Soboba Classic. The event boasts a $750,000 purse, making it one of the largest and most important stops on the tour. Watch as PGA TOUR Stars of the past, present and future compete for the $135,000 winners share!
